What an adventure this has been!  When I made the decision to go into Home Staging and do it through HSR, I had no idea where it would take me.  The tools you provided and STILL provide are immeasurable!  I love that you continue to help us grow and do not charge us for every little "piece" of that. Thank you!

Because the economy is very tight right now, you have to look for creative ways to stay busy. And what I love most about this business is how it opens so many avenues to do that.  I started with home staging and vacant home staging.  Once a home sold I found the clients wanted me to come in and stage their new home so I began more redesign and decorating. Those clients then recommended me in their community and I have done consulting and redesigns for churches, residences and theatres.   

I was asked to work with a builder on the Parade of Homes and that was a wonderful experience and fit more into the design scheme of things.  Doing it again this year, I had 6 new clients before the Parade of Homes had ended! 
 

One of the hardest challenges was to get out of my comfort zone.  I will never forget how scared I was the first time I took my first staging job.  And I continue to be scared, when I say yes to a new venture. But saying yes has made me more versatile and given me the ability to grow and learn. Kudos to you for continually evolving in your business and encouraging us.
 
A friend and I recently started doing estate sales.  She has knowledge of antiques and the value of times, I have knowledge to stage the home prior to the sales, rearranging furniture and accessories throughout the home. We did 5 this year. This becomes a tool in selling the home as well as it brings more traffic into the home.
 
As for marketing?  I now have realtors who give Smart Move Design gift certificates to their buyers. I love to barter services. I was asked to be a set decorator for a local theatre guild.  I volunteered my services and furnishings for free advertising.  I put my cards out everywhere I can.  I blog, facebook, twitter, linked in, am on any free website that will have me. I speak at realtor offices if given the opportunity. As I don't like to spend big money on marketing, time is the only thing that gets in my way of marketing.
