Hi Audra,
When I got your
email, I could
hardly believe
that two years
had already gone
by since I
joined
HSR. I feel
so fortunate
that my business
has been doing
very well, given
the economy. I
contribute most
of that to the
background you
gave us during
our "50
things to do".
Without a strong
foundation to
start, it would
have been a
struggle. To
this day, I
still refer back
to the HSR
website for
guidance and
always find what
I need.
As far as
business goes, I
have strong
relationships
with 2 very busy
Realtors and
that keeps me
busy. I have
kept track of my
statistics and
so far the
houses that we
have staged,
before staging
were on the
market a total
of 136 days,
after we got our
hands on them
they sold in 67.
That is 49%
faster. It is
absolutely true
that when they
are staged they
sell in half the
time.
I have had the
pleasure in
staging 4 parade
homes, leading 2
seminars, been
featured on the
morning news,
and in the local
news paper, I've
done commercial
and residential
properties, and
also redesigns.
One of my
favorite things
I've done is
sign on as the
president of the
Greensboro
chapter for the
American Society
of Home Stagers
and Redesigners.
It has given me
the opportunity
to meet some
very wonderful
and talented
stagers. We have
been working as
a team to
strengthen our
industry. One of
our biggest
accomplishments
is having a well
known furniture
company lending
us furniture
from their
showroom to help
us with staging.
In return, if
the home sells,
we have the
client give back
by purchasing a
gift card to
their store to
give to the new
homeowners. It
is great!!! We
have also held
two seminars in
our area to help
educate the
public of what
staging is. We
had a great
turnout.
We are there for
each other with
questions,
concerns, and
referrals. (yes,
referrals).
There have been
times I couldn't
make an
appointment
because my child
was home sick
and I called one
of my chapter
members to go
for me. Also,
I've referred
out business
that was closer
for someone
else, than
myself. It is so
wonderful to
have the support
and ideas of the
other stagers
and I think that
is very
important when
you are running
your own
business.
I am so happy
that I am doing
something I
love. Thanks to
HSR for
helping that to
happen. I've
said it before
and I'll say it
again, I wish I
would have found
you sooner. It
was the best
investment I
made in my
business. That
is the honest
truth. Here's to
another 2
successful
years!!!!!

Sell FAST!
Hi Audra--
I have never
written in
before but
thought this
latest news was
worthy of
reporting! We
recently
"lightly" staged
a house that
sold on the very
first day. The
owners were
smart and
decided to stage
before listing
their home and
doing an Open
House. The owner
was so pleased
with our work,
she even
purchased a few
of the staged
items! She said
that during the
open house,
people were so
taken with the
decor they too
were asking
where to
purchase it! The
house before was
pretty
unremarkable
before we came
in, so we're
pretty excited
it sold so fast!
The owners were
needing a full
price offer as
well, so it was
a great success
for us all!
Business is good
these days....we
are as busy as
we want to be!

Before I signed up for HSR, I went through another staging school which at the
time was advertising on HGTV offering a lucrative guaranteed income. I "jumped
through their hoops' and passed their tests only to be offered independent
contracting. ( I do all the work and they make the money--not for me!) I was
TOTALLY unprepared to be in business for myself in this industry after that 6
month experience! Talent is mandatory but specific business knowledge in this
